Jobless Claims Take a Dip
Initial jobless claims were down last week, and lower than analysts predicted. Labor Department reports 654,000 claims, down from 674,000 the previous week. A record 5.8 million now get unemployment benefits.
Banks Back??
Banking giant Wells Fargo projects record first-quarter profits, with revenue rising some 16%. The Dow rises more than 100 points in early trading. Plus: Wal-Mart's March sales rise, though less than expected.
Obama's Rx for Vets
The president will make an announcement on his plan to improve health care for veterans Thursday from the Executive Office Building. He'll speak before patients, health care providers from Walter Reed, National Naval Medical Center and D.C. Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
